Doctor Tan: ALWAYS believe the inaccurate thermometer, even if it displays a temperature difference of 1.3°C between 2 individuals in the same space at the same time of day.

Befitting to have food we LOVE on a day the world celebrates love of all dimensions. My idea, believe it or not. People underestimate my 大爱 capacity, largely because they judge me first. Since September last year, ‘family first’ has propelled into a dissimilar league from its runner-up.
So it’s just me saying this: as I grow, it becomes less pertinent for Valentine’s Day to be all about romantic love; it’s more important that close ones are happy and feel loved on this day.
Free and Febulous App Finds
Search for Feecha took me on a discovery tour of the current top 300 free apps in iPhone App Store. Here’s what caught my attention.

Reminds me of DJ Dennis Chew. For someone who dreams every night and remembers them, this could be my daily bible. Except that I don't appreciate revisiting the fact of nightly dreaming.
Have started coming across tweeples sharing from Pinterest.
Me: What?! Another instagram/tumblr thingy? Fast approaching 10 to-checks on my iPhone every morning.
Wonder if Ant Smasher helps the myrmecophobes.
Simply Ludo – “I don’t wanna grow up, I’m a LudoR Us kid”

#175: Need to find time to either read it here or watch it. #178: Now, why am I still hesitating over the QR scanner?? I should already have it. :-/
(1) will be useful when the time comes. (2) for BIL perhaps. (3) delivers a break from the other photo apps of filters and stamps. Could be fun creating 3D images with (4).
16 good-to-know-they-exist apps for the iPhone. Might download a couple or just stick to the ones below and my favourite photo apps.

Skinny Pizza @ Wheelock
Training nieces to draw poker face(think rage faces) while Dear sips cider. #True story.

Old Fashioned American Sliders sandwiched with lettuce, tomatoes and pickle. Done medium(for BIL) and medium well(for sister).
Have harboured a penchant for their sweet potato fries since my first encounter at Barracks Dempsey. Apart from being an uncommon offering at restaurants, sweet potatoes stir up a warm fuzzy homey feel in me.
The modest eaters that we are, the 6 food items were pretty much shared among 6 grown-ups and 2 toddlers. Didn’t manage to get a shot of the Meatball Spaghetti Napolitana we ordered for the nieces. Total bill stood at SGD177.
Complimentary water all round – they are doing it right.
Flicks on SQ: February 2012

Top: Believe it or not, these are the men I watched this for. Bottom: the scene I found most impressionable.
Every time I watch a film of political theme, I know my take-away would be some powerful phrases, scenes or a mired social phenomenon.
What the above scene speaks to me: In America(as represented by by the flag), while the politician is playing his cards right in delivering beautiful promises on gay marriage, terrorism and religion in front of the flag, what goes on behind the scenes could be a huge gamble on loyalty.
On to my remaining choices and what drew me to them…
In Time: Concept of not aging beyond 25 years old and time is currency, Matthew Bomer, Justin Timberlake.
Chalet Girl: Mostly Ed Westwick of Gossip Girl fame. Found snow-boarding intriguing afterwards.
Johnny English Reborn: Chose this as the final film on the outbound leg in hope of deriving some entertainment from Rowan Atkinson, didn’t know what else to watch anyway.
Margin Call: Honestly? The cast. And I’m talking the likes of Kevin Spacey, Stanley Tucci(versatile, this one) alongside Zachary Quinto, Penn Badgley and Simon Baker of American drama fame – namely Heroes, Gossip Girl and The Mentalist.
There’s something comforting in seeing that TV stars do make it to the big screen. Like there’s still hope for the rest of us. Bleah.
Foreign films
When it comes to ensuring the continuity of your family trade that’s a monumental part of the nation’s culture and heritage, fathers can only hope their sons are born with the gifted nose and tongue necessary to take over the reins.
French and Japanese films are regular contenders in my movie selection.
Asian picks
Milan –> Singapore
I try to catch a Hong Kong film just so I can hear them in original Cantonese. Also because most never make it to Singapore and the ones that do are tainted by disgusting and ‘plastic’ dubbing. Life Without Principle reflects quite realistically Hong Kongers’ struggling fervour in the property and stock markets. Naise to see Myolie Wu in it, playing Richie Ren‘s wife. It appears that Richie Ren and Li Yu Chun are much more active in the movie industry than I thought.
Since watching Monga and You Are The Apple Of My Eye, Taiwanese films are fast looking like a viable option in my selection process. Couple that with a publicising episode on Kang Xi Lai Le edged me into pressing the ‘play’ button for Starry Starry Night. Learnt something about jigsaw puzzles from it.
